MOUNTAIN INTERACTIVE VOLUNTEER STAFF AGREEMENT

Last Updated: September 28, 2025

PLEASE READ THIS AGREEMENT CAREFULLY. IT CONTAINS IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING YOUR ROLE, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND THE NATURE OF YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH MOUNTAIN INTERACTIVE.

This Volunteer Staff Agreement (“Agreement”) outlines the terms, expectations, and conditions for any individual who serves as a volunteer moderator, or in any other volunteer staff capacity (collectively, “Volunteer Staff”), for the Mountain Interactive community. This includes our official forums, game servers, social media channels, and any other platforms operated by Mountain Interactive (“Operator,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accepting an invitation to become a Volunteer Staff member, and by continuing to serve in this capacity, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and unconditionally agree to be bound by all terms and conditions contained herein. This Agreement is supplementary to our main Terms and Conditions and Privacy Policy, which you must also abide by at all times.

1. Nature of the Relationship

1.1. Strictly Voluntary Position. You acknowledge and agree that your role as Volunteer Staff is a strictly voluntary, unpaid, at-will position. You are not an employee, independent contractor, partner, or agent of Mountain Interactive. You perform your duties for personal civic, charitable, or humanitarian reasons, without promise, expectation, or receipt of any compensation.

1.2. No Compensation or Benefits. You agree to perform all duties without any form of compensation, salary, or wages. You are not entitled to, and shall not receive, any employee benefits. Any in-game titles, access, or virtual items provided to you are a discretionary, non-guaranteed privilege granted as a courtesy for your service and are not to be considered compensation.

1.3. At-Will Termination of Service. The relationship between you and Mountain Interactive is entirely "at-will." This means that either you or Mountain Interactive may terminate this volunteer relationship at any time, for any reason or for no reason, with or without advance notice or explanation.

2. Eligibility and Requirements

To become and remain a Volunteer Staff member, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Age: You must be at least fifteen (15) years of age. An exception to this minimum age requirement, for individuals as young as thirteen (13), may be granted only with the explicit, case-by-case written authorization of a contracted team member of Mountain Interactive.

  • Communication Equipment: You must have and maintain a functional microphone in good working order. This is a mandatory requirement for all Volunteer Staff, regardless of age or exemption status.

  • Account in Good Standing: You must have an active Mountain Interactive user account in good standing, with no history of significant violations of our Terms and Conditions.

  • Agreement to Policies: You must agree to and abide by this Agreement and all other official policies.

  • Demonstrated Maturity: You must consistently demonstrate maturity, sound judgment, and professionalism.

3. Code of Conduct and Responsibilities

As a Volunteer Staff member, you are a community role model and are expected to uphold the highest standards of conduct. Your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Enforcing Rules: Actively and impartially enforcing the Mountain Interactive Terms and Conditions and Code of Conduct.

  • Fostering a Positive Environment: Promoting a welcoming and constructive atmosphere.

  • Professionalism: Behaving in a respectful and unbiased manner at all times.

  • Impartiality: Applying rules consistently to all users, without favoritism or prejudice.

  • Escalation: Promptly reporting serious issues to designated Mountain Interactive staff.

4. Confidentiality

You shall not, at any time during or after your service, disclose any non-public information you are exposed to. This includes, but is not limited to, internal staff discussions, unreleased game features, user data, and security protocols (“Confidential Information”). A breach of this section will result in immediate removal and may lead to further action.

5. Use of Staff Tools and Privileges

All staff tools are the sole property of Mountain Interactive, granted for the exclusive purpose of performing your duties. You are strictly prohibited from using your status or tools for personal gain, to intimidate or harass others, or to settle personal disputes. Any abuse of power is grounds for immediate removal.

6. Disqualification and Removal

6.1. Grounds for Removal. In addition to our at-will right to remove you, actions that will typically result in immediate disqualification include: breaching confidentiality, abusing staff tools, unprofessional conduct, failure to enforce rules, or violating our Terms and Conditions.

6.2. Consequence of Violation. A violation of this Agreement, as determined in our sole and final discretion, will result in the immediate termination of your Volunteer Staff privileges and may also result in the permanent termination of your underlying Mountain Interactive user account, without right of appeal.

7. Limitation of Liability

You perform your volunteer duties at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you agree that Mountain Interactive shall not be liable for any claims, damages, or liabilities arising from your actions or service as a Volunteer Staff member.

8. Post-Service Obligations and Conduct

8.1. Use of Trademarks and Brand Representation. Your right to associate yourself with our brand is limited and ceases upon the end of your service.
(a) During and after your volunteer term, you are strictly prohibited from using the full, trademarked name "Mountain Interactive" to describe your former role in any public-facing biography (e.g., Discord bio, social media profile, resume).
(b) Prohibited Example: You may NOT state "Former Mountain Interactive Administrator" or "Ex-Staff at Mountain Interactive."
(c) Permitted Example: If you wish to reference your past service, you may ONLY use approved, non-trademarked identifiers. Approved identifiers include, but are not limited to: "Former MI Volunteer Moderator," "Former Perris Volunteer," or "Former Project Ventura Volunteer."
(d) This policy exists to protect the Operator's trademark and prevent public confusion regarding who is an official, current representative of Mountain Interactive.

8.2. Prohibited Post-Service Conduct. Upon the conclusion of your role, you agree that you will not engage in conduct intended to disrupt the community or harm the Operator. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Making public claims for wages that you explicitly waived by entering into this Agreement.

  • Spreading misinformation or making defamatory statements about the Operator or its staff.

  • Inciting drama or unrest related to your departure or the volunteer program.

8.3. Consequences of Breach. You understand that engaging in prohibited post-service conduct, including the improper use of our trademark as defined in Section 8.1, is a material breach of this Agreement. Such a breach will be grounds for the immediate and permanent termination of your underlying Mountain Interactive user account and a permanent ban from all Services, without appeal.

9. Acknowledgment of Agreement

You hereby acknowledge that you have read and fully understand this Volunteer Staff Agreement. You understand that this is not a contract of employment and does not create any legally enforceable rights to a position or to compensation.

By accepting the role of Volunteer Staff, you are signifying your complete and unconditional agreement to be bound by all the terms and conditions set forth herein.
