Major Los Angeles Update Released!
Posted

Suggestion for: Los Angeles, California

My Suggestion:
I recommend a tiered tool access system for LAPD Volunteers that lets them progressively earn access to non-lethal and finally lethal equipment depending on their in-game conduct and full officer recommendations. Since the game currently lacks a rank level or XP system, this structure would rely on real-time participation and admin or officer trust.

The tiers would work as follows:

  • Tier 0 – New Volunteer (Default):
Access to: Police vehicle, jerry can, tire pump, radar gun, CitePro scanner, megaphone, handheld radio, and beanbag launcher.

  • Tier 1 – Trusted Volunteer:
Unlocked after 7 real-life days of active patrol with no warnings and consistently good behavior. Access to: OC Spray, Detain, Hold, Search.

  • Tier 2 – Field Partner:
Unlocked after 14 real-life days of clean service plus at least two LAPD officer recommendations. Access to: Baton and Taser.

  • Tier 3 – Tactical Volunteer:
Unlocked only through admin review and approval. Access to: Firearm.

In the event of misuse, all promotions would be recorded and revoked. Abuse prevention features like taser and OC spray cooldowns, gun control restrictions, and admin oversight would all be part of this system.

Why This Would Improve the Game:
Right now, LAPD Volunteers have little to no defensive capability, making them ineffective and vulnerable during high-risk scenarios like active shooters, violent suspects, or pursuits. This system would reward dedicated and respectful volunteers, improve realism by simulating how real life reserve officers gain trust and equipment over time, and create more depth in community policing.

It would also reduce pressure on full LAPD officers by enabling qualified volunteers to take on more supportive roles including traffic control, minor detainment, and scene safety while still keeping game balance and abuse prevention in place.

Fair enough. How about just giving LAPD Volunteers OC spray and a baton by default? It would still fit within RP since real life volunteer or reserve officers often carry non lethals, and it would help them defend themselves during fights or when assisting full officers.

No, This would just ruin RP.
