How do i rank up as a cop in Los Angeles California

I want to know how do i rank up as a cop because i want to get promoted to Sargent?

    With LAPD you are able to rank up by being active or being promoted by higher command members for being dedicated to the force. For sergeants all I know is that there is a sergeant's exam after passing you become a SiT sergeant in training to then if pass your trial you become a sergeant.
