Which Mountain Interactive Servers Do You Play Most?
Have you moderated other communities?
Yes, for the Las Vegas
Why do you want to become a moderator?
In my case, it is the eagerness to assist other people and make sure that the community is respectful and positive that motivates me to want to become a moderator. I have witnessed the pleasurable experiences players can have when they are in a properly moderated environment. I want to be part of the team that makes such experiences possible.
As a moderator, my aim is to assist players through rules enforcement, and also provide support by answering questions and resolving issues with patience and fairness. I believe that a lot of rule-breaking players only need a soft hand to guide them towards the correct path, which I would gladly offer to help make certain that the experience is enjoyable for everyone. In my perspective, moderation is about supporting the community and not punishing it, and especially after learning about Mountain Interactive, I would be glad to help in its aim of making the environment friendly for all players.
Are you familiar with any current staff members?
No.
When are you usually available to moderate?
I can dedicate anywhere from 13-28 hours a week, aschedule that can cover all 7 days of the week. I am available during different time periods and can accommodate everyone’s schedule. I will stay active during my work hours as this allows me to ensure that the community is nice and fun at all times.
How Would You Handle Rule breaking?
If I come across a violation, infraction for a specific set of rules and steps, my first reaction would be to make sure that I stay calm. I take myself through the reasoning process of the incident at hand. The next step is to understand what evidence there is, such as chat logs, screenshots, or certain witnesses, and ascertain what exactly happened based on the evidence provided.
So first, I would do a sit for the specific individual. I will conduct the sit by introducing myself in a friendly manner, so that has to be cordial for the specific player that I am doing the sit for. Then I have to ask them what they strongly believe the reason within them being there is before unearthing the reason why a certain rule was broken. It is fair to say that my experience predominantly tells me that capping off the oral testimony with an explanation of the consequences offered to those who committed the offense really works, especially when this is their first encounter with real consequences. In reality, all that is needed most of the time is a chat and a warning, which remarkably changes ways of behavior.
If a player repeatedly violates rules, especially of severe nature, we act according to moderation policies and take the most extreme measures. In cases like these, the player could receive a kick or vote mute, as well as a temporary or permanent ban from the server. Either way you look at it, my focus remains trying to strike a balance in community participation and interference—or enforcing rules, which is guaranteed.
