My time in mostly spent on Perris as I partake in roleplaying as riverside police. Being so, if accepted, I intend to moderate Perris.
I am seeking a moderation role at MI because of the community outreach and support that it offers. I recently decided to apply due to the lack of moderation currently present in Perris. Back in February I left a group called Buckingham Palace due to issues with the owners. I made many friends and from one of them was recommended to join the Mountain Interactive community. Through that I was introduced to Perris. I have grown to love the community and came to realize that I was around when Victor Valley was popular. My main mission in applying for this position is to help Perris and the community run smoothly. Too many times, I have come across massive RDM and just rule breakers in general. My goal is to mitigate the issue and work to stop it from recurring.
I bring to the table many unique traits. As a person who IRL works with truck drivers I am no stranger to handling difficult individuals without compromising my integrity. During my time in Buckingham Palace my main task was to teach, speak, listen, and resolve. These are very important qualities for a mod to possess. Reasoning be that when handling rule breakers, you have to try and play their game. Most individuals will look at you as either the hero or the villain. Hero, as in listening to their concerns as well as resolving them and villain as in speaking out against wrong doings. Most do not realize this, but moderation is also a key teaching moment. You are not only stopping bad behavior but working to correct and direct the individual back on course to follow community guidelines.
Overall, I have been with the MI community for a few months actively and a few years inactively. I want to make a difference in the community and ensure people are being held to the standards that are expected of them. RP games tend to become intense, and people do not like when their roleplays are destroyed. I want to not only moderate but involve myself in the community to show people that there is someone out there for them to go to. I have experienced moments when I have asked mods questions, and they simply don't bother to address the issue. I carry the opposite mindset and strive to go the extra mile to ensure people are helped to the fullest extent.

Handling Rule Breaking
When it comes to handling rule breakers there are two categories. First time offenders and repeat offenders. For first time offenders my teaching strategy is the best course of action. Not everyone reads the rules or understands them. It's my responsibility as a moderator to explain to the individual what they did wrong and how they can avoid making the same mistake. For example: Joe Noname drives down to S&K and starts shooting cops. I pull Joe into the mod box and ask him why he did that? His history is clean. Joe says I don't know what RDM means. I would explain to Joe what RDM means and how he can avoid making this mistake again. Joe doesn't deserve to be banned for not understanding a specific rule but instead taught the meaning of the rule and how to avoid it in the future.
As for repeat offenders they come in a wide variety. Repeat offenders are those that have demonstrated malice against the community time and time again. For example: Joe Noname is back at it again shooting cops for no reason at S&K. Again, I pull him in the mod box and begin the tough conversation regarding his punishment. I would explain that he was given a chance to prove he understood the rules explained to him and now his actions have consequences. I would give Joe a 24-hour ban as it is only his second offense. Keeping someone at bay for that amount of time should instill in his mind that his wrongdoings cannot occur again. Now of course I will encounter people with long lists of rule breaking. Each time they should be met with a certain ban time up to being permanently banned depending on the severity and length of infractions. But I would also strive to make each issue a teaching moment to again try and deter them from making more mistakes.
Overall, I just want to make a positive difference in the community and again show others that someone is looking out for them when they most need it.
Thank you for taking the time to read and consider my application to become a moderator within the MI community.
Kind Regards,
