This person earlier ran over me, knocking me over at the strike point, causing me to bleed. We tried to take him down in full effect as a threat. If we read the policy for the justification for deadly force by an officer is "Imminent Threat Standard," which says "Officers may use deadly force only when necessary to protect themselves or others from an immediate and serious threat." The threat must be real and present, not speculative or based on fear alone. Same for "Fleeing Suspect Clause" Officers may use deadly force to apprehend a fleeing suspect only if the suspect committed a violent felony. The officer reasonably believes the suspect poses a continuing threat of death or serious injury to others.
