Suggestion for: Project Ventura

My Suggestion:
From what I know, the VHP currently only benefits from having statewide jurisdiction. Compared to departments like FCPD or HCSD, we don’t have any specialized divisions such as SWAT or Investigations.

To make VHP more realistic and engaging, I’m suggesting the addition of several operational and enforcement divisions based on real-life California Highway Patrol (CHP) units. These additions would create more opportunities for progression, variety, and realism within the department.

Proposed Operational / Enforcement Divisions

SWAT (Special Response Team)
The real CHP operates Special Response Teams under their Protective Services Division. These teams deal with high-risk warrants, barricaded suspects, hostage rescues, and tactical vehicle stops. Adding this division would give VHP a tactical unit similar to HCSD SWAT, allowing us to handle dangerous statewide incidents more effectively.

Undercover / Investigations (ISU or MAIT)
The Investigative Services Unit (ISU) focuses on undercover work, organized crime, narcotics, and vehicle theft operations. The MAIT (Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team) investigates major or fatal traffic collisions involving complex or criminal factors. These roles would bring deeper investigative and forensic roleplay opportunities to VHP.

Commercial Enforcement (Commercial Vehicle Section)
This division focuses on commercial trucking, hazardous materials, and weight enforcement. Officers could perform inspections, operate weigh stations, and respond to hazmat situations. It reflects one of the real CHP’s main responsibilities and adds variety to highway patrol duties.

DUI Enforcement / Task Force
A DUI Task Force would specialize in impaired driving enforcement and crash reconstruction. It could be used for checkpoints, saturation patrols, or night operations, promoting realistic and focused traffic enforcement.

Vehicle Theft Task Force (AUTO / CHP-RATT)
Based on CHP’s Regional Auto Theft Taskforce (RATT), this division would work with local law enforcement to target vehicle theft rings, VIN fraud, and chop shops. It’s perfect for joint operations and investigative RP scenarios.

Executive Protection / Dignitary Security
This division, similar to CHP’s Protective Services Division, provides security for state officials and visiting dignitaries. It could be used during events or special roleplay scenarios involving VIPs or government figures.

Capitol Protection Section
Responsible for protecting the California State Capitol and nearby government buildings. This could serve as a special assignment or ceremonial role within the department, focusing on state-level security and high-profile threats.

Gangs / Narcotics Enforcement
A task force that works with state and local agencies to investigate drug trafficking, smuggling, and gang-related crimes along major routes. This division would expand VHP’s presence in serious criminal investigations.

Why This Would Improve the Game:
Introducing these divisions would make the Ventura Highway Patrol more than just a department with statewide jurisdiction. It would give members new paths to specialize, train, and grow within the department while keeping things realistic and true to how the real CHP operates.

These additions would also improve cooperation with other departments, create new roleplay scenarios, and give VHP a balanced mix of patrol, investigative, and tactical opportunities, making it feel like a complete, professional law enforcement agency rather than just a highway unit.
