Message Deletions in Compedium of Non-AI Generated Group Logos

Posted

Hi, I'm triage, I make logos. This topic is primarily aimed towards moderators, developers, and the staff team at React Studios.

I recently returned to playing Project Ventura (I was active on it for a few days when it was named Project Delta) and, being someone who likes to larp, went on the hunt for decent looking groups that I could join to get the experience of police-larping on a game where it wasn't just roleplay, and my actions would actually affect other players in-game progress.

I noticed that a lot of these groups had entirely AI-generated logos which were not exactly pleasing to look at, and some did not make sense for the mission focus they were trying to accomplish (ie; most logos were in a challenge coin style yet lacked the elements of a good challenge coin, all lacked fine detail, and there was a general lack of effort put into making them aside from inputting a prompt). Being someone who works on graphics and has been doing it for a while, I decided I would make and release some graphics that may be useful for people to use on this game in their own media, logos, badges, seals, etc.

I opened a forum post titled "Compendium of Non-AI Generated Group Logos" on October 13th. I can't recall the entire description, but it was along the lines of me explaining the situation I just explained in the previous sentences, along with me posting two logos that were made with my own inspiration without the use of AI. Those being a patch for the Florence City Police Department Gun Trace Task Force (a community group I had taken membership in), and a conceptual logo of the Hayward County Hazmat Team, a logo intended for someone who may create a community group relating to that, instead of the more common police groups.

My forum post was well received, and I shifted my focus from making standalone logos to recreating 1:1 replicas of in-game graphics assets, my first being the Florence City Police Department detectives badge, then I posted an entire suite of Florence City Police patches that resembled the ones in game, which were based off the ones used in IRL Los Angeles. I had a lot of fun making them, and they all looked extremely well at their high resolutions of 4048x4068. These patches were extremely liked to those who came across my posts, and I received at least 5 DM's from individuals who wanted logos made for their community groups, which I promised I would do for free as that is the price I would pay for someone to not use a bad AI-generated logo while having extremely good roleplay. I also released the canonical State of Ventura flag which I had based off a flag at the port and the patch worn by SRCTU.

I then released the State Bureau of Investigation drop, which I had invested a few hours of my time into (and any struggles I voiced to someone in DMs). These came out EXTREMELY well to me, and were 1:1 replicas to what was in-game and wearable by anyone on the SBI team. The graphics I had released for the SBI pack were the SBI seal, the SBI badge, and a metallized version of the SBI badge. I received good feedback from these, which motivated me to continue creating graphics. My next release was intended to be the SBI Police logo, one I recognized to be based off an FBI Police patch used by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I had chosen this because of how much feedback I received in both DMs and in the forum page.

Yesterday, October 16th at 10:14 PM CST, I received notice from a developer that I wasn't supposed to share the logos. Not trying to flaunt my ego, and because I believed my work was that good, I told the developer that the replicas were my own creation, and that they were not game assets. The developer told me "just in case, please don't share them for now.". I iterated to the developer that I had the original files to every logo that I had made, and that none of them were taken from the game with all of them being reproduction works. I understand the position React Studios is in given that they can copyright works and control their distribution, which is why I had made the logos only public within the React Studios Discord server and am avoiding creating any product that I gain monetarily from at this time. I also want to state that the only images I ever watermarked were the FCPD detective badge and the two conceptual group logos.

All of my graphics, including the ones that were not in game and were fan made concept arts, were deleted from the forum post, and currently copies of them do not exist within the React Studios Discord, with the only copies being on my computer (and their original files) and to any individuals whose DM's they ended up in by conversation. Believing that they were deleted because the developer may believe that my works were sourced straight from the game, and could be illegally obtained, within a matter of hours I worked on and off to create the City of Florence seal, a 1:1 to what is in game and the one in game being based off of the City of Los Angeles seal. I used AI to create the bottom two illustrations within the coat of arms on the seal, and even went as far as to use a completely new software (Affinity Designer 2) to further seal the deal that I had created these works by hand, as it provided me more tools that would give me more control over the graphic to prove that I had handmade them. This message was deleted only 2 minutes after I had sent it. I have all records of me creating these files by hand, timestamped and ready for me to show at any moment that they were created within the last 7 days.

I just want to know the behind-the-scenes reason to why they were deleted. I have no shade at all to the developer, as I myself have had my creative works stolen under someone else's name if that is the reason as to why they were deleted.

Out of respect for the developers and staff team, I will not be sending any more graphics until React Studios gives me the go-ahead to do so. If any staff member wishes to see the logos, I prefer if they contact me on Discord (tr_iage) and speak to me there, where I may be able to give some more context if needed. I will also link the forum post for anyone that wishes to look for themselves.
