I would like to contribute in helping out with moderation and other duties since I personally enjoy the games that Mountain Interactive has to offer and I too would like to be apart of that and making sure that roleplay is consistent and doesn’t get ruined by exploiters etc. So far I had a positive experience with the Mountain Interactive Staff Team and I feel as if its my duty to be apart of what made my (and so many others) experience’s so great. What skills or qualities do you have that would make you a valuable member of the staff team? I had previously been apart of many ERLC’S servers staff team and I had managed many discord servers of my own. I’d consider my experience in ERLC moderation to be similar to games such as Los Angeles, California (in terms of the community you face and the situations you may encounter). Overall, id say I have great skills in communication (such as understanding both sides of a situation) and using those skills I like to de-escalate a situation so that all parties leave satisfied with the outcome. However, not all situations end in a positive outcome so that’s where id say another skill would come into play (such as balance). I’d say I have great balance so that so I separate my own personal experience with a player with the facts. This basically means if I previously didn’t have a good experience with a player, this wouldn’t affect my judgement nor punishment and I’d focus on the current situation at hand and look at the facts. However, if a user has a history of violating rules then that may result in my punishment being more serve towards the individual so that they learn their lesson and don’t repeat the same mistakes as before. I try to leave this as a last ditch effort as I dont enjoy having to punish people as I feel as if it may give them a bad opinion about the Mountain Interactive Staff Team. Have you been involved in any other communities or teams? If so, please list them and describe your role: I have been involved in many ERLC communities but the issue is I dont entirely remember their names and its been a good year or two since I last interacted with ERLC. The main reason why I stopped interacting with ERLC is because my main account got terminated for bogus reasons by Roblox. I tried to appeal it many times but it got rejected so I felt very defeated and all of my progress was wiped instantly. For that reason, I stopped interacting with ERLC however I can list my roles within the servers I worked on. For many of them, I was a moderator but for Orange County Roleplay (Not sure if they rebranded) I was a Deputy Director and I designed a lot of their liveries and even the main server logo. I’m not sure if I still have the liveries on me but if I do I could send it as proof of me working on Orange County Roleplay (but I recently wiped my files to save space so there’s a decent chance they might be gone) How would you handle a conflict between two community members? Well first, I would require a clip if the conflict was based off roleplay (such as someone getting killed or someone saying something offensive to provoke a reaction out of the other party). If the conflict is not based off roleplay I’d try reasoning with the two parties and take a non bias role in easing tensions between them. For example, my own personal experience in moderation has resulted in me dealing with conflict based of Real Life events such as the Ukrainian-Russian war and people in-game insulting each other and even trying to dox each other just because of their stance on the conflict. If the conflict i’m dealing with is about a situation similar to that, I might request a Supervisor to assist me in dealing with this since I dont want to further fuel tensions or cause any unwanted problems that come along with war. Typically, what I found out is that trying to reason with people when they are arguing about political matters or other controversial topics, reasoning (with the aggressor or both parties if their both acting in an aggressive manner) usually isn’t very effective and its good to separate them and give them time to cool down and take a breather. Describe a time you had to solve a difficult problem in a leadership or team role: Back in Orange County Roleplay when I was a senior moderator, we had a senior administrator state racially charged messages and send inappropriate gifs onto the staff chat and main general chat. The people who were in the server longer than me were split on giving him a light punishment or completely banning him and removing him from the discord entirely. I looked at the rules and they stated that any racial remarks will result in an immediate permeant ban and demotion from any position of power. The problem was that people had an emotional connection to him and they wanted to give him an exception. I stepped up and said that we shouldn’t now change our rules for anyone and persuaded HR to ban and remove the guy from power. Alongside him, 6 other people left the relatively small moderation team leaving us with around 14 staff members. How do you prioritize tasks when managing multiple responsibilities? Id look at the most pressing issue and the task that will take the most time and is the most important. If these tasks have different deadlines, id look at it at another way. If an easy task is due tomorrow, id complete it now alongside other ones that are also due soon. Since their easier than the rest, they will take less time giving me more time to focus on the largest issue. I like to do it this way because if I instantly do the hardest thing, I will have less motivation and energy to complete the other tasks where as if I do the light stuff first, I will have more energy and wont be as burnt out as opposed the other way around. What do you think is the most important value for a Mountain Interactive Staff member to uphold, and why? Integrity & understanding are honestly what it boils down to. Having these traits will make you a more down to earth person and can even help de-escalate a situation. If there was conflict brewing between 2 parties and someone with these values arrives, just their reputation alone will make their voice more important than someone who doesn’t uphold these values. Regardless of your beliefs or own views, its good to be open minded so that your just overall a trust worthy staff member to talk to. How would you support and encourage new members of the community? I’d first familiarise them with the Mountain Interactive website, discord server and explain to them how the game their playing works. Id show them different functions such as looting the dumpsters or how to write a arrest report etc. Once they understand the game, it would be time for me to invite them to the discord server and website. If its needed I’d walk them through on how to get setup on the website and what the websites purpose serves etc. Finally to wrap things up, I’d inform them about the !help command if they have any more issues that need to be addressed by me. What are your long-term goals, and how does being part of Mountain Interactive align with them? I’m going to focus on my goals for the staff team as my personal goals dont really align with Mountain Interactive nor Roblox in general. My main primary goal within the Mountain Interactive Staff Team is to make good impression on the players that I work with and to encourage them to also join the Staff team or at least follow the rules. I would like to one day be a supervisor or a high role so that I can implement my past knowledge to Mountain Interactive as this community is something that is truly wonderful and to be apart of it would be a blessing. Are there any areas within the community you feel need improvement? If so, what ideas do you have to address them? Just as a gameplay feature, for Los Angeles, California, If there could be GUI when you spawn in as a LAPD officer to give you your uniform and tools that be amazing. It does get quite repetitive having to constantly go up and down the stairs and sort your gear out every time you die and it would really boost the quality of life it your gear & uniform saved when you died.
