The reason why I wish to join the Mountain Interactive Staff Team is because I would love to become an addition to the trust and safety team and help other community members. I’ve so far been in Mountain Interactive since early 2022 and always enjoyed my experience going through many updates, changes, maps, games, and etc. I believe in always helping others when they need it the most, especially with customer support, as I have real-life experience in that section. I wish to also provide my full support to Mountain Interactive and wish to be a part of the team and work alongside others to provide a fair, safe, and enjoyable gaming experience for all members a part of the community. I’ve seen firsthand for the past two and a half years, over time with moderation changes, and with how some conduct themselves with the community. An epitome of this would be Ash who is now a part of corporate leadership, I remember before he became a part of Mountain Corp he started out just like everyone else beginning in his early moderation days. He has helped many people far more and beyond to the point he was recognized for his selfless duties and by helping the community and Mountain Corp as a whole. It was amazing to see after a while and I always commended him for what he has done for Mountain Interactive, especially with his customer service skills that he put in the effort. From that I personally do care for the community and wish to do the same, helping those who has issues that need resolving, whether it’s payment, billing, in-game issues, discord moderation, or whatever it is that would need assistance in. The motivating factor of this application is the amount of moderators and team members of the Mountain team there are and how often they are helping members with issues or questions, being able to professionally handle conflicts and other issues. I also believe I have these qualities, such as my professionalism, maturity, my age, and personal experiences in handling such things. This is why I wish to become a part of the Staff Team and hopefully be able to contribute more in the late future if necessary. Please provide a detailed explanation of your motivation, what excites you about being part of this team, and how you see yourself contributing to our goals. What skills or qualities do you have that would make you a valuable member of the staff team? The types of qualities and skills I have are my professionalism, maturity, and kindness. My faith truly helps me in these areas on day-to-day activities. I also believe having such qualities and being able to talk to the community members for a straightforward response to be able to assess any issues or concerns would be a great addition. Having kindness can go a long way for anything that we can do in our life, and this is one of them, especially having to deal with others problems online, like on Roblox or Discord. Being a part of the Mountain Interactive Trust and Safety team is basically also in it’s name, making sure the community members can trust us to even do our jobs and provide safety to those that need moderation, whether in-game or on the Discord. Without having the trust of the community, we would all have issues and a bad rep for the community if we cannot conduct ourselves appropriately and professionally. I personally would add my real-life customer service skills to use as well as exercising patience with certain individuals who are more difficult to deal with. I aim to provide my utmost skills and duty to add to the community and deal with any concerns or problems that someone would bring. I have worked in the medical field in real-life, specifically with mental health, having to deal with such patients every day, making sure everyone is taking their medication, assisting the nurses and doctors, and also having to deal with certain patients who cannot get along with anyone. When I worked in such fields, it showed me having to stay calm and collected at all times, being patient, and also kind to these people because most of us don’t know what is going on in people’s minds or in their lives. Being a part of the mountain team, I don’t always just want to focus on just moderation but connecting with the community as well because at the end of the day this is only a gaming experience that we get on to enjoy, and as moderation members we aim to make sure that everyone is following the rules accordingly. Include specific examples of your strengths, experience, or personal traits that align with our mission. Have you been involved in any other communities or teams? If so, please list them and describe your role: I’ve been in other communities realated to FiveM, such as at one point City of Miami RP. I was an Server Administrator for a time and also lead another department such as Miami Dade PD. I haven’t really interacted much with other communities in terms of moderation. It’s been a long time over my years so I cannot really recall any others at this time. Mention the name of the community or team, your position, responsibilities, and any accomplishments you achieved during your involvement. How would you handle a conflict between two community members? I would firstly start with the source or cause of the problem and what is going on. Such as a report that was made against someone or if there is any sort of conflicts going on in a public chat within Mountain Interactive Discord. I would explain to the members to please keep their discussions respectful and if they wish to create a moderation report against one another and myself or another assist from a moderator would help as well. If any of them are breaking any discord rules and mountain rules I would have to warn them and possibly moderate them according to the Moderation rulebook of what would be appropiate. I would be professional and mature about whatever the matter it would be between them and to hopefully resolve the matter in a quick way. All interactions with community members varies since it is always a different case each day. Prioritizing a fair response to the problem and making sure there isn’t any favoritise or bias going on since that would be very unprofessional and unfair, which would cause mistrust and actions against us. Describe your approach to conflict resolution, including steps you would take to ensure a fair and positive outcome. Describe a time you had to solve a difficult problem in a leadership or team role: There was a time when I was brought with a internal affairs investigation against myself and another officer in LAPD from a civilian. I was placed in administrative leave in result of this till an investigation was completed. In this particular case this civilian was attempting to fake a report against me and this other officer and not explain in full detail what happened. I was in a cruiser with this officer and traveing west bound on a street when the civilian walked infront of us on purpose while we had a green light and tried to fake an injury. I had my bodycam (medal) roling already of the interaction and gave my info and we drove off. Next thing happens he reports us both and tried to get us suspended for no reason and possibly lose our rank. I just so happen to have a whole recording of the incident that cleared us both from the investigation after the footage that the civilian sent our Chief only shows a portion of what happen but not when he walked infront on purpose and us talking and questioning him about why he did that. I provided the full clip of everything and because of that we were cleared and was issued an apology of the confusion. This case to me was the most interesting thing to happen since I have seen stuff like this happen to other people when they were always innocent. I am glad that I had proof of my case and was able to help myself and this other officer out of a false accusation case. Share details about the situation, the actions you took, and the outcome of your efforts. How do you prioritize tasks when managing multiple responsibilities? Simply I would start with whatever I would see that would need to be handled first before anything else such as a report, billing issues, moderation problems, and etc. While having multiple responsiblities it is important that I am able to handle all these issues without having to miss anything important of my day. I sometimes would just probably be in-game looking spectating to make sure everyone is following the rules and roleplaying correctly. Catch any sort of rule-breakers, respond to help requests, quickly assess any conflicts or issues going on. Then I would browse through the discord and look at chats to see if there is anything going on that would require any moderation attention. I would also go online on the mountain website and look at any reports that have yet to have been looked at and respond to anything that needs to be approved, or reported. It’s good to make sure that I can focus at one thing at a time that serves importance, even attending team meetings to discuss any sort of topics or community engagement. Explain your time-management strategies and how you stay organized when balancing competing priorities. What do you think is the most important value for a Mountain Interactive Staff member to uphold, and why? I believe the most important value is being professional, maturity, and also having respect for others. The reason being is because this is a big platform with everyday growing members on Roblox, and on mountain interactive discord. A staff member have to deal with these community members each and everyday with moderating, assisting others in other issues, conflicts, and working with the corporate team with any important business issues that involves discord moderation and it’s roblox games. As a staff member we cannot just disrespect any community member just because we are in a position of moderation, that would not be a great look for the team and it is unacceptable behavior. A staff member must be able to handle any situation without having to lose their cool because they get upset because someone is being rude or direspectful to them back. We has moderation members have to respect others no matter the case and do our jobs being apart of the trust and safety team and use our moderation as tools to ensure everyone is following the rules and being respectful to other community members. Showing no favortism or bias, only fairness while doing our job to help. Discuss a value or principle you believe is crucial and provide reasoning or examples to support your choice. How would you support and encourage new members of the community? I would let the new members know to always make sure to keep up to date with our announcements for any sort of changes that are made to the terms of service. I would also let them know to go over to the mountain interactive website and create any sort of reports if they have any, and to also take a look of FAQs if they have any sort of common questions. Making sure to remind the new members that we are always here to assist and help them when needed and to not be afraid to ask quetions or make a report and we would do our best to respond in a timely manner to whatever it is they create. Interacting with the community is good for engagement and letting them know we are here for their issues or concerns with anything or in-game. Explain the steps you would take to make new members feel welcome and ensure they have a positive experience. What are your long-term goals, and how does being part of Mountain Interactive align with them? My long-term goals is just to continue to help the members of the community with engagement, moderation, and gaming experience with them as well. Being apart of mountain interactive I could freely utilize my customer service skills that I have obtained and have been trained, to help the community and mountain interactive over my time spent on this platform. I want to be apart of this corporation and let the community know that there are more members who are willing to assist at any given notice for whatever concerns they would have. I do not know what the future holds but I do hope I can make a impact helping those who needs it for the long run. Only thing that comes to mind is making sure anyone who is coming to certain positions with Mountain Interactive can be trusted when going through trials, and finally in moderation positions. Ensuring that they are capable with providing the necessary skills and mindsets to perform their duties professionally and maturely. I’ve noticed recently there are some who would talk to the community members any sort of way as in cussing at younger individuals or being a bit to harsh with them as well. I see this as unacceptable as this is a corporation based on creating Roblox gaming experiences. We will face many different members and some who are young as well that we would interact with and we have to make sure everyone is respecting the community members and showing kindess as well. Obviously continue to be professional with whatever positions is given but making sure everyone can actually enjoy the game at the end of the day. The posted “clip” doesn’t even exist or any other supporting evidence that I had violated NLR rules. The moderator decided to give me a warning for this issue without having a proper clip/evidence to backup their reasoning for this matter. Appealing Roblox Username: Chosen_B Appealing Discord ID: 155125251468951553 Warning Date: 12/11/2024 Moderating Staff Member: imthe_goat3416 Warning Reason: Tool Abuse Warning Appeal: The reason why I believe this warning should be lifted is due to the circumstances of what happened. The moderating staff member gave me a warning for tool abuse after a sheriff deputy who was recklessly driving and endangering the lives of others had ran away from me and another CHP trooper on the scene after he was handcuffed. The suspect (sheriff deputy) in question had called for a mod on the scene near the BOA housing complexes. The sheriff then started to run away from us while he was handcuffed for our safety. I was attempting to get the user of the sheriff so I can properly report him to a staff member for his actions. The CHP trooper believed this person was recklessly driving and attempted to pull him over near the empty parking lot and sped off from him, I thought the vehicle could’ve been stolen. The deputy sheriff in question is named Heaven_PhilipC, the moderator eventually teleported to us when we stopped in the middle intersection near the gun store and little caesars. The moderator then claimed that all he saw was me tool abusing him, prior before he claimed I did tase the sheriff to try and stop him from leaving so I can get his username when he was the one who called for a moderator in the first place. He then kept running from us when no moderator was teleporting to us so I used non-lethal tactics such as my beanbag to subdue him because he kept running away from us from his own mod scene. The moderator only claims that I was the one in the wrong for “tool abusing” him when he ran from both CHP and RPD officers for breaking traffic violations and recklessly driving. I did not appreciate the outcome of the moderation against the user involved in the beginning after my PC briefly crashed and I notified the mod that it crashed as well and explained to him further in discord DM’s of the situation with him. He never responded back in the DM’s and I have rejoined the game when he basically told me that he supposably warned the CHP and Heaven_PhilipC for their actions which didn’t make sense to me. But told me I was the one warned as well. When I saw the logs on the main discord, I did not see anyone else that was involved in the scene that was warned but myself. So I field lied to and failed by the moderator for not giving the user who should’ve gotten the moderation. This felt very bias personnaly to me and felt that I shouldn’t have been warned for this matter at all. Below I will attach incidences of what happened starting with the pursuit of the suspect involved which led me and the CHP to pull the person over with and another clip of the moderator jailing me and the CHP trooper for no reason. The Moderator said to me that he was watching us when the sheriff user involved had called for moderator using the !help command and said that he only saw me abusing my tools against him when he was running away from us by the scene. This explanation didn’t make sense for why myself or the CHP trooper would’ve been warned for trying to get a Mod to help us out with him in the first place? I told the moderator I was only trying to get his username and description incase he decides to leave or switch teams beforehand but I was the only one that was moderated for this incident. I do not believe this was a fair moderation at all whatsoever and wish to have this warning lifted and removed if deemed necessary.
